The state agency in charge of the environment is called North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Environmental Health Group is North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the safety office is run under the North Carolina Department of Labor.

South Carolina is in Region IV of both OSHA and the EPA. The state currently has state approved OSHA plans as well as many of the EPA individual plans. The state agency in charge of the environment is called South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Controls (SC DHEC) and the safety office is run under the South Carolina Labor and Licensing Regulation Board (SC LLR).
